We, at Nedlaw, believe proper roof maintenance can extend the lifespan of any roofing system. Failure to find and correct small roof defects and deterioration can result in the premature failure of the roofing system. A proper roof maintenance program will identify simple problems such as ridges, blisters, splits, open cones, stacks and plugged drains which can be repaired at minimal cost. Roof systems can suffer premature aging as a result of Canada’s severe climatic fluctuations. Owner neglect and other traffic on the roof can often lead to further roof damage. Flashings are often damaged or knocked off completely when working on roof top equipment, or when leaning over the parapet edge. Holes are often punctured in the roof near roof top equipment when a tool or a piece of equipment is accidentally dropped. Failure to find and properly correct these minor incidents properly can result in premature breakdown of the roof system. We do not recommend that you try to repair the roof yourself.

We believe that a properly maintained roof can have more then double the life of an improperly maintained one. Proper roof maintenance can consist of correcting problems such as those stated above, to simply removing debris from the roof top and ensuring that the drains are clear. Proper inspections in both the spring (to view any damage caused by winter storms , freeze and thaw ) and fall ( to correct any damage before winter sets in ) are vital to maintaining a roof.

Thermographic roof scans are available to help identify areas of the roof that may have defects and wet insulation. Nedlaw Roofing Limited can assess if repairs are required on these areas and propose remedial work as necessary. If requested, test cuts may be completed during the scan, the roof system can be
evaluated and budgets may be presented to the owner based on the expected life of the roof - as determined from the scan and the test cuts.
