At Nedlaw Roofing Limited safety is forefront in all aspects
of our business. All employees of the company focus on
Health and Safety in all aspects of their day to day activities,
ensuring compliance with all applicable safety laws, codes
and issues. Project Managers are responsible for the safe
set-up of each job, prior to the job starting, and for
daily job site safety inspections.
We
currently put all our staff, prior to the employee starting,
through a worker orientation session that covers the basic
safety requirements of our industry. Topics covered include
fall protection, hoist safety, ladder safety, as well
as kettle and other equipment operating safety. In addition
to this training, we hold monthly safety meetings, rain
day safety talks, and ongoing equipment training which
all of our employees must attend. Our employees are also
trained in WHIMIS, first aid and in the proper use of
propane for our industry.
Our
company has a Joint Health and Safety Committee to assist
in the expedient resolution of any safety complaint.
The
Construction Safety Association recently conducted a full
safety audit of our company. This consisted of an internal
audit of our safety records, followed by several site
audits. We are delighted to say that the result of these
combined audits was a score of 97%. Our most recent CAD-7
ratings from WSIB have resulted in substantial refunds
due to our favorable safety record.
In
June 2001 Nedlaw Roofing was presented with the highest
award for safety achievements in our industry. The Frequency
Index Award was presented at the Ontario Industrial Roofing
Contractors Association annual meeting. The award represented
the best safety record as determined by the Construction
Safety Association of Ontario for contractors with over
200,000 man hours for the period 1998 - 1999.
We
are proud of our efforts as we strive to make Nedlaw the
safety leader in our industry.
